Something old, something new

There's not much to say about weddings that hasn't already been said. After all, people have been celebrating them in some form or another for hundreds--if not thousands--of years.

The best we could do while assembling this annual Brides publication was to tap into that rich tradition while searching for the new, the offbeat, the unexpected.

We started with a dress. Most brides seem to, anyway. From that centerpiece idea, thoughts bubbled and flowed like Champagne down a pyramid of glasses.

We hope that this collection of stories, tips, facts, and tidbits is as fun and enlightening to read as it was to put together. No matter where you're at in life--whether you've found your special someone (for the first or second or third time), or are still waiting for the day, or have sworn off marriage for all time--you should find something to think about in these pages.

Enjoy.
