Weekly Poll
Do you think the Carrizo Plain should stay a national monument?

Absolutely. The Carrizo is one of the last undeveloped areas of the San Joaquin Valley, a protected habitat for endangered species, and a natural wonder for the public.
Yes, but I don't think it's as clear cut as some think. The Trump Administration should take a look at its status.
The feds should consider reducing the size of the monument.
No. The Carrizo should be privatized. Allow the market to tap into its natural resources.

Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses, Identity Thief) directs this big screen update of the popular TV show (1989-2001) about lifeguards dealing with life on and off the beach. Dedicated chief lifeguard Mitch Buchanan (Dwayne Johnson) leads the crew, including cocky new recruit Matt Brody (Zac Efron), second in command Stephanie Holden (Ilfenesh Hadera), lifeguard ladies Summer Quinn (Alexandra Daddario) and C.J. Parker (Kelly Rohrbach), as well as schlubby Ronnie Greenbaum (Jon Bass). They team up to uncover a criminal plot that threatens Emerald Bay. The film also features cameos by original TV series stars David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.

I have to hand it to the actors for committing to such nonsense and being so willing to make fun of themselves. Judging from the outtakes in the closing credits, it looks like they had fun making this picture, but in the final analysis, Baywatch may have been more fun to make than to watch. Trimming this down to 90 minutes would have helped, but we’re in the beginning of Big Old Dumb Summer Movie season, so buckle up because it’s going to be a bumpy ride! (116 min.)
